Fatherhood Focus Group

HomeGrown StL is conducting focus groups to gather feedback from Black dads in the St. Louis region to design a multiple family group program to provide dads with resources to support their children and families. If you’re interested, click on the link below to register to attend three two (2) hour focus group sessions. You will receive $90 at the conclusion of the third session.

Purpose of Survey
The purpose of the focus groups is to gain an understanding of the needs, how to recruit, and engage Black fathers in the St. Louis region. These focus groups will inform the design of a program for Black fathers and their families.

 

Who can participate?
Black fathers 40 years of age and younger who live in the St. Louis region (City and County) with at least one child 17 years of age and younger.

What do I get for participating?
All eligible participants who complete the form and are enrolled into a cohort will receive $90 for participating in all three two (2) hour sessions.

Healing Policies for Black Male Development

Purpose of Study

The purpose of the study is to examine perceived barriers and advocacy efforts among service providers in the St. Louis region related to policies that impact their capacity to better serve Black boys and young men in the region. This study has the potential to inform the development of policy and advocacy efforts focused on making Saint Louis an equitable development environment for Black boys and young men, and one of the urban regions with the lowest disparities in social mobility between Black and White males..

Who gets to participate?

  • Practitioners and administrators who work at organizations that provide direct services to Black boys and young men ages 12-29 in the St. Louis region (City and County)

How does this work?

What do I get for participating?

The 2020–2021 Academic Year has been challenging for students, families, and friends alike. In response, the Race and Opportunity Lab at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis is offering a unique opportunity to a select number of motivated St. Louis students from the ages 12-17.

Purpose of Survey

To connect students to personalized community resources in support of advancing their socio-economic wellbeing and achieving their goals.

Youth ages 12-17 living in St. Louis City or County.

Personal Safety Of Black Males in the St. Louis Region

Purpose of Survey
The purpose of this survey is to gain an understanding of the personal safety experiences and practices of Black males in the St. Louis region. This survey has the potential to inform policy and advocacy efforts that prioritize the safety and wellbeing of Black males.
 
Who can participate?
Black boys and men who live in the St. Louis region (City and County) and are at least 12 years of age.

Study on Police use of Force

Purpose of Study

The purpose of the study seeks to better understand black emerging adults’ experiences with police use of force events. This study will increase our understanding of the relationship between exposure to racism-based police use of force, racism-based trauma symptoms, and health risk behaviors in a sample of black emerging adults 18-29 years of age.

Who gets to participate?

  • Black/African American
  • Between 18 to 29 years of age
  • Student enrolled at St. Louis Community College or St. Louis University
  • Resident of the St. Louis Metropolitan Area (City of St. Louis; the Illinois counties of Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Monroe, and St. Clair; and the Missouri counties of Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, St. Charles, St. Louis County, and Warren)
