Prior to joining the Race and Opportunity Lab, Mrs. Roberts worked in the field of educational consulting for Kaplan K-12 Learning and the College Board, respectively both leading global providers of educational services in K-12 and post-secondary education, advocacy, and professional training. She has worked extensively in the areas of community outreach, engagement, and youth development working with non-profits like the George Lucas Educational Foundation, the Tavis Smiley Foundation, and the Institute for Democracy, Education, and Access.   She began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Ms. Roberts graduated with a degree in Sociology from Hampton University, earned a dual Masters in African American Studies and Education from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the University of California, Los Angeles, Graduate School of Education and Information.
