Former HomeGrown STL Project Coordinator

Carnayla Johnson formerly was the Project Coordinator for HomeGrown STL.

Carnalya is a recent alumna of Howard University and Washington University in St. Louis. Her research interests involve examining the factors that contribute to violence in predominately black neighborhoods and how the role of mentorship could possibly eliminate them. She is passionate about the Race and Opportunity Lab because she wants to help young black children who need mentorship, motivation, and support. Carnayla wants to see young black children excel and prosper, despite the circumstances they may face. In May 2018, Carnayla graduated with her MSW from the Brown School. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Human Development. Prior to her work in the lab, she previously worked with the Howard University Cancer Center on projects that were centered on tobacco cessation.
