Dr. Maribeth Clifton, OTD, OTR/L is a Clinical Research Affiliate in the Race and Opportunity Lab. She was born and raised in Cheyenne, WY and completed a Bachelor of Science in physiology and minor in psychology at the University of Wyoming in 2015.
In 2020, Maribeth graduated from the Program in Occupational Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis (WUSM), where she received her clinical doctorate in occupational therapy.
Maribeth is currently an occupational therapist at the Program in Occupational Therapy at WUSM where she works as the primary therapist for a multi-site clinical trial, I-ACQUIRE, providing Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) for infants and toddlers who have had a stroke. She has previous experience working in the community with children and youth with behavioral and mental health challenges and her research examines the impact of toxic stress in children and youth on health, development, and occupation (or everyday “doing”).
In her work and practice, Maribeth strives to promote social justice through an equity lens. She is committed to work that increases opportunities, facilitates better outcomes, and reduces disparities for marginalized communities.
