Luther is a Master of Social Work student at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to coming to the Brown School and the RO Lab, Luther served the city of St. Louis as a police officer for seven years. He was elected to be part of the St. Louis City Housing Unit for two years. Luther immediately aided in the development of three events to help enhance relationships between the community and surrounding law enforcement officials.
Luther was instrumental in the development of a yearly schedule of 15 academic, personal, and professional enhancement projects. In addition, Luther was granted permission to develop a presentation on topics such as social unrest safety, active shooter scenarios, and community building tactics. He has had the privilege to speak at venues such as Ameren UE, AT&T, Urban League, Urban Strategies, Focus St. Louis, and Cochran Family Center. Luther has taken proactive steps to develop an education empowerment team that services all four Housing Developments.
Luther has taken advantage of every opportunity to enhance himself as a professional and empower others. On August 20, 2001, he was elected attend the Focus St. Louis Emerging Leadership program, which helps leaders gain a better understanding of inner workings of the St. Louis community and develop leadership skills while exposing them to volunteer opportunities. In December 2015, Luther was selected to attend the GREAT program to learn how to instruct family life skill techniques.
